 I want to add, that you should also think about the purpose of the ship.
 Is it a military vessel that is able to destroy everything in its path or
 is it a transporter needed to transport huge amounts of resources and
 goods to space colonies. It can also be a ferry, where smaller ships will
 dock and then the vessel will transport people and ships to the next
 destination.
 All these ideas are supported by the universe/story and we are in dire
 need for big vessels.
